Introducing our all new Secondaire - a lightweight polyester highline webbing that's 20mm wide, 25 kN strong, and is built for backups on highlines. With an incredible strength to weight ratio and robust weave, this webbing is ideal for backing up any length highline.
Secondaire uses a plain weave with low pick count to achieve very close to ideal efficiency in the weaving process to get a fantastic strength to weight ratio that is only matched by using higher strength materials such as High Tech. This makes Secondaire especially good as a backup line.

Simple Design for Backup Lines
No need to get fancy for a webbing used as a backup
The aim with Secondaire was to get as simple of a polyester webbing that we could in order to make backup lines more accessable. We achieved that by sticking with a plain weave structure, using natural polyester yarn and a simple marker yarn to help detect twists. No fancy weave technology or specialty yarn was used in Secondaire in order to keep costs as low as possible.
Due to the simple structure of Secondaire, it packs very small and handles very well in the hand. We estimate about a 9.5L volume per 100 meters of Secondaire, which is quite small for polyester webbings. Keep the pack small and light for those alpine missions without breaking the bank with Secondaire.
Simple Colors Scheme
With only white and black as the colors, Secondaire keeps it simple!
As mentioned above, we kept Secondaire as simple as we could. However, in order to maintain the ability to detect twists in Secondaire with a quick glance, we added a marker line off-center. This is very helpful when taping your line, sewing the webbing on our end, and just general aesthtics of the webbing.

Stretch
A big stretch curve for soft backup falls, if ever needed.
Up until about 4 kN, Secondaire stretches just about the same as our Jelly PRO webbing, which is already a high-stretch polyester. Beyond 4 kN, however, Secondaire stretches MUCH more than any of our other polyester webbings. Up and beyond 7 kN, it starts to stretch more than some of our nylon webbings! Between 4 - 6 kN, where we estimate forces will be if you were to ever take a backup fall, it has a drastic increase in stretch. This means a backup fall on Secondaire has a great deal of force-limiting behavior, keeping forces on your body and anchors down during a dynamic event.
